  1. Research priorities

My recent research interests  have been developing in two directions entering two distinct areas of study: (1) cultural studies, involving comparative and interdisciplinary investigations  of literary and non-literary phenomena, and (2) literary theory, text analysis, and interpretation, i.e. hermeneutic pursuits.

 The interdisciplinary studies I pursue concentrate on the city as a modern as well as contemporary episteme and, further, on the evolution of ways and methods of knowing and representing citiness, where the visual turn gives in to the relational. The interest in urban transformations, and their representation in texts (essays, contemporary drama, fiction, non-fiction, life-writing, film,) includes the traditional concept city approach as well as the processual urbanity produced by globalisation, gentrification, non-territorial networks, and planetary urbanism. The present research focuses on the search for and application of new theories and new epistemologies for understanding the urban process. My special field of study is modern drama and, currently, the writing of Ivan Vladislavić, a contemporary South African writer.
Literary analysis and interpretation concerns primarily the paratextual surround produced in connection with the publications of contemporary plays in English after 1950. In this area, my research interest focuses on the relations between paratexts (mainly peritexts) and the main texts in reference to genre, narrative structure, constructions of authorship and forms of life-writing.

Keywords: literature in English; culture studies; literature and politics; the city/urbanism in literature, culture and social sciences; cultural geography; the city in fiction,  non-literary texts, film and drama; drama after 1950; visuality;
paratexts in editions after 1950; drama and narratology
